here's a weird site: www.productinvasion.com you can make donald trump your bitch (in a low res way)! politics: bush went on the offensive today, using veteran's day as a platform to disparage liberal "revisionists." for a transcript, go here: (i warn you, it's long-winded) http://www.nytimes.com/2005/11/11/international/11bush-transcript.html there are some scary moments in it, like this one: "Some have also argued that extremists have been strengthened by our actions in Iraq claiming that our presence in that country has somehow caused or triggered the rage of radicals. I would remind them that we were not in Iraq on September the 11th, 2001. The hatred of the radicals existed before Iraq was an issue, and it will exist after Iraq is no longer an excuse. The government of Russia did not support Operation Iraqi Freedom, and yet the militants killed more then 150 Russian school children in Beslan. Over the years these extremists have used a litany of excuses for violence: the Israeli presence on the West Bank, the U.S. military presence in Saudi Arabia, the defeat of the Taliban or the Crusades of a thousand years ago." this logic doesn't quite work for me. no, we were not in Iraq on sept. 11, 2001. neither was osama bin laden. as for the terrible incident in Beslan, the root of that conflict has nothing to do with "Operation Iraqi Freedom" (again with the operations!). Interestingly enough, the BBC Country Profile for Chechnya has this to say: "Western criticism of Russian tactics and human rights violations in Chechnya was all but silenced following the 11 September attacks on the US. Russia has since portrayed the Chechens as part of the global terror network and uses this to vindicate its methods." hmmm. a convoluted issue to be sure. i may not have all the facts, but for someone in Bush's position (i.e. [hopefully] with all the facts) to be spouting such drivel is frightening. enough ranting. i have been seriously bummed over my grad school rejection, but not to worry. i spent the day running, reading, and eating, and tonight i will see the second installment of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's series featuring the Salzburg Marionettes. i just need some time to regroup. on a happier note: good luck to Nakatomi Plaza as they head down to Florida on tour! check out the website: www.nakatomiplaza.com
